Growth Habits: Evergreen tree, up to 30 feet tall (10 m); pinnate leaves, up to 4 inches long (10 cm) with 4 to 6 deep green, ovate, leathery leaflets, up to 2 inches long (5 cm)

Watering Needs: Moderate water, needs good drainage, somewhat drought resistant

The Lignum Vitae wood is extremely dense and hard and is in high demand.

Blooming Habits:
Blue (occasionally white) terminal flowers, 1.3 inch in diameter (3 cm) with yellow stamens, and slightly tomentose petals.

Fruiting Habits:
The seeds are light brown to brown.
