The genus name Holmskioldia honors Theodor Holmskiold, a 18th Danish physician and professor.

Blooming Habits:
Narrow, orange-scarlet tube with a broad, circular calyx. The flowers appear in dense terminal clusters, mostly through summer and fall, but also year long if the conditions are right.

Culture:
Prune after flowering to keep a shrub form.
