Growth Habits: Evergreen tree or shrub, slow to moderate growth, up to 50 feet tall (15 m); glossy jade green, oval, entire leaves, up to 1 inch long (2.5 cm)

Watering Needs: Prefers a moist soil, but is moderately drought resistant, likes mulching

Propagation: Seeds, cuttings

- ‘Tahiti’ is a dwarf cultivar, often used in containers.
- 'Variegata' has cream leaf margins.

Blooming Habits:
Scarlet, bottle-brush-like flowers, up to 2 inches in diameter (5 cm), free flowering much of the year, more abundant in summer.
