Growth Habits: Small to medium evergreen tree, 20 to 40 feet tall (6-12 m); spongy, paperlike bark; ovate, light green twisted leaves, 0.5 to 0.75 inch long (1.2-1.8 cm), 0.25 inch wide (6 mm), ending in a sharp point

Watering Needs: Little water when established, prefers moist sandy soils, needs good drainage

Propagation: Seeds

Good lawn tree, resistant to oak root fungus.

Blooming Habits:
Cream bottle-brush-like flowers, 1 to 2 inches long (2.5-5 cm), coming intermittently in late spring to early fall.
