Growth Habits: Large evergreen shrub or tree, round-headed, fast growing to 12 to 20 feet tall and wide (3.6-6 m); attractive tan, shredding paper-like bark, on twisted stems; small, sparse oval, grey-green leaves, 0.5 to 1 inch long (1.2-2.5 cm)

Watering Needs: Moderate to regular water, needs enough water to bloom well, tolerates poor drainage, dislikes drought

Propagation: Cuttings, seeds, easy

Wind and salt tolerant.

Blooming Habits:
Showy purple to lavender flowers with yellow tipped stamens, in late spring to mid summer. The brown seed capsules persist around the stem for several years.
