The species epithet 'latissima' comes from the Latin for 'very wide', referring to the shape of the leaves.
Blooming Habits:
Attractive red flowers in racemes, in late winter, early spring, before the leaves.
Fruiting Habits:
Twisted woody pubescent pod constricted between the seeds. The orange-red seeds have a black line next to the hilum.
