Growth Habits: Deciduous to semi-evergreen tree or large shrub, 20 to 30 feet tall (6-9 m), 20 to 35 feet spread (6-10 m); twisted branches, dark green 2-lobed heart shaped leaves, 2 to 4 inches long (5-10 cm)

Watering Needs: Moderate water, needs good drainage, drought resistant, dislikes alkaline soils

Propagation: Seeds, suckers, layerings, cuttings, self seeds


Blooming Habits:
White flowers, 10 stamens, about 3 to 4 inches wide (7.5-10 cm), in spring throught summer.

Fruiting Habits:
Elongated pod, about 6 inches long (15 cm) or more, generating significant litter.
