Home Page | Sempervivum contains over 40 species of rosette shaped succulents, native from Europe, eastern Asia, and northern Africa. They are among the most frost resistant succulents, and as such are the most common succulent in gardens that get more than a light frost. Sempervivum comes from the Latine for 'always alive', referring to its toughness.
Sempervivums have characteristic star-shaped flowers that can be yellow, pink, red, white or green. The rosette that flowered dies after setting seeds. Rosettes are generally growing for several years before blooming.
