The related Greenovia diplocycla is sometimes available in cultivation, it can be recognized to the ciliate margins of the young leaves. Contrarily to G. aurea, it does not offset and is generally propagated by seeds.
Blooming Habits:
Greenovia aurea has large creamy yellow flowers in May and June. The rosette that produced the flowers dies after setting seeds.
