Growth Habits: Deciduous tree, 20 to 40 feet tall (6 to 12 m.), 20 to 40 feet in spread (6 to 12 m.), green elliptic or ovate leaves, 2 to 6 inches long (5 to 15 cm.), up to 2.5 inches long (6.25 cm.), with a lighter underside

Flowers: White or pink flowers, up to 8 inches wide (20 cm.)

Fruit: Yellow or red drupe

Watering Needs: Regular water

Propagation: Seed or occasionally cutting, layering

  • by semi-hardwood stem tip cuttings, in spring. Apply IBA TALC 16000 PPM. Use intermittent mist. Root in 6-8 weeks.
  • by trench layers.
  • by seeds, in autumn. Germinates at 70-85 degrees F. The seeds can also be harvested in autumn. The seeds need stratify 40F 2-3mo.. The usual germination temperature is 70-85 degrees F.
