Origin: Central Peru

Type: Up to 13.3 feet tall (4 m.)

Stem: 1.6 to 2.8 inches wide (4 to 7 cm.), cylindrical, greyish-green

Ribs: 10 to 14 rounded ribs, 0.4 inches high (10 mm.)

Central spines: 3 to 8, 0.4 to 1.6 inches long (1 to 4 cm.), stout, yellow to brownish

Radial spines: 10 to 14, 0.12 to 0.4 inches long (3 to 10 mm.), longest at the bottom of the areole

Flowers: Greenish flowers, up to 4.8 inches long (12 cm.)

Fruit: Hairy ovoid green, up to 1.6 inches across (4 cm.)
