Origin: Mexico (Guanajuato)

Growth Habits: Solitary, tap root, globose greyish-green or glaucous stem with flattened top, partly underground, up to 4.4 inches long (11 cm), 2.4 to 2.8 (to 3.6) inches in diameter (6-7 to 9 cm); tubercles 0.6 inch long (15 mm), 0.5 inch wide (13 mm), with carinate bottom; areoles with reddish wool turning grey as it ages; 3 to 5 soft flat spines, up to 0.8 inches long (2 cm)


Blooming Habits:
Red flowers with darker midstripe, in summer (April to June in the wild), around 1.1 inches in diameter (2.8 cm), 1.2 inches long (3 cm). The fruit is red, smooth, 0.4 inch long (1 cm), 0.2 inch in diameter (5 mm).
