Origin: Mexico (Sinaloa, Guerrero)
Growth Habits: Shrub or tree-like, up to 13 feet tall (4 m); stems light green, up to 3.2 inches wide (8 cm); 3 or 4 ribs, 1 inch deep (2.5 cm); areoles 1.2 inches apart (3 cm); 4 to 8 centrals, 1 inch long (2.5 cm); 13-16 radials, 0.4 to 0.6 in. long (1-1.5 cm)
Blooming Habits:
Nocturnal pinkish-white bell-shaped flowers, 2.4 to 3.2 inches long (6-8 cm), 1.2 to 1.6 inches in diameter (3-4 cm); edible globose fruit, 1.6 inches in diameter (4 cm), spiny at first, containing a sweet red pulp; black shiny seeds, 2 mm long.
