Stenocactus hastatus


Scientific Name: Stenocactus hastatus (Hopffer ex Schum.) Berger
Synonym: Brittonrosea hastata, Echinocactus hastatus, Echinofossulocactus hastatus, Efossus hastatus
Family: Cactaceae

Origin: Mexico (Hidalgo)

Growth Habits: Solitary, flattened globose light green stem, 4 to 5 inches in diameter (10-12 cm); 35 ribs with a triangular section; areoles with white felt; 1 central spine, 1.6 inches long (4 cm); 5 or 6 short yellowish radials, the upper ones longer, up to 1.2 inches long (3 cm)


Blooming Habits:
Yellowish white flowers followed by a dry fruit containing brown seeds.
