Scientific Name: Pereskiopsis gatesii Baxter
Family: Cactaceae

Origin: Mexico (Baja California Sur)

Growth Habits: Shrubby, trailing gray woody stems, 6.5 to 10 feet long (2 to 3 m), 0.6 in. in diameter (1.5 cm), young stems light green; round darker areoles with many large brown glochids; one or more spines, 2 in. long (5 cm), with grey base and darker tips.


Blooming Habits:
Bright yellow flowers, up to 1.2 inches in diameter (3 cm). The red fruits bear areoles with brown glochids and one or more short spine.
