Gymnocalycium hybopleurum var. ferox in the HBG greenhouse (HBG 60687). It is unclear if this is really part of G. hybopleurum

Origin: Argentina (Catamarca)

Growth Habits: Solitary, grey-green globular stem, up to 6 inches tall and wide (15 cm); 10 to 13 ribs or more in old plants; spination variable; generally 1 whitish central spine with darker tip; 7 or 8 pinkish grey to white radials, up to 1.2 inches long (3 cm).


Blooming Habits:
White flowers with slightly pinkish throats, 1.6 inches long (4 cm)
