Home Page | There are about 16 species of espostoa coming from the Andes of Ecuador and Peru. The name of the genus, Espostoa, comes from the Peruvian botanist Nicholas Esposto. Avoid extreme heat or heavy cold, and kept in a well drained soil, since they rot easily.
Mature Espostoa have lateral pseudocephalium, area on the side of the stem, close to the top, with much denser hair. This is the area where the flower buds are produced. The flowers are nocturnal, funnel shaped, generally white or pinkish.
