Growth Habits: Columnar cactus branching at the base; stems about 3 feet tall; 12 to 20 notched ribs; 4 to 9 yellow central spines, up to 4 inches long (10 cm); 9 to 18 radials
Coleocephalocereus estevesii was described with 18-20 ribs, while C. braunii was described with 12 or more ribs.
Blooming Habits:
Mature stems produce a 6 inches long lateral cephalium (15 cm) from which emerge the nocturnal pale yellow flowers, 3 inches long (7.5 cm), up to 1.6 inches in diameter (4 cm). The fruits are red to purplish, 1.4 inches long (3.5 cm), 0.8 inches in diameter (2 cm)
