Growth Habits: Shrubby, semi-prostrate stems up to 6 feet long (2 m), 0.8 to 1.6 inches (2 to 4 cm) in diameter; 8 to 12 ribs; 0 to 2 central spines, 0.8 to 1.2 inches (2 to 3 cm) long; 10 to 20 radial spines, 0.2 to 0.28 inch (0.5 to 0.7 cm) long;
