Origin: Venezuela (Lara)

Growth Habits: Tree-like, up to 27 feet tall (8 m); bluish stems up to 3.2 inches in diameter (8 cm); 9 ribs; woolly or hairy areoles; 1 or 2 stout central spines, up to 1.6 inches long (4 cm); 5 to 7 radials, up to 0.6 inches long (1.5 cm)


Blooming Habits:
The Cereus mortensenii has a developed cephalium bearing nocturnal, cream colored, flowers, up to 2.4 inches long (6 cm), 1.4 inches in diameter (3.5 cm)
