Growth Habits: Shrubby, stems up to 12 feet tall (3.6 m), 1.6 inches in diameter (4 cm); 3 or 4 ribs (occasionally up to 6); 5 to 8 spines, 0.4 to 0.8 inch long (1 to 2 cm)

Blooming Habits:
Nocturnal greenish white flowers, up to 2.4 inches long (6 cm), followed by spiny fruit, up 1.6 inches long (4 cm)
