Origin: Southern Ecuador, Northern Peru

Growth Habits: Woody stems, much branched, fast growing up to 15 feet tall (4.5 m), branches up to 6 inches in diameter (15 cm), 7 or 8 ribs, 20 spines, reaching between 0.8 and 5 inches long depending on the age of the stem

Watering Needs: Opportunistic grower, water when you see growth


Blooming Habits:
Nocturnal reddish and white flowers, up to 3 inches long (7.5 cm). They are followed by a red, 3.5 inches long fruit (8.5 cm), globular or oblong, with white pulp.
