Origin: Western North America, from 5000 to 10000 feet elevation (1500-3000 m)

Growth Habits: Perennial, 6 inches tall (15 cm), 1 foot spread (30 cm); light green, basal mat of hairy oblanceolate leaves, 0.3-1.2 inches long (8-30 mm).

Watering Needs: Very low water use, prefer sandy soil with low organic content

Propagation: Seeds or division in spring
