The Mexican Fan Palm is much taller and thinner than the Californian Fan Palm. The Fan Palms are inexpensive due to the ease and speed with which they can be grown. They are relatively high maintenance, since the dead leaves need to be trimmed every year.
The species name "robusta" comes from the Latine for "robust".

Blooming Habits:
Flower stalk from among the leaf bases, producing small round fruits, small round glossy red seeds.
