Growth Habits: Evergreen tree, moderate to fast growing to 15 to 20 feet tall (4.5-6 m), 10 feet spread (3 m); dark green, elliptic leaves with much less spines than I. aquifolium, 2 to 3 inches long (5-7.5 cm)

Watering Needs: Regular water, tolerates some drought when established

Propagation: Cuttings

There are a number of cultivars, some are male, some female. Only the female trees bear the red berries. Male cultivars often have attractive foliage

Fruiting Habits:
Abundant red berries, 0.25 inch in diameter (6 mm), in clusters, in winter.
