Home Page | Ruschia is a large mesemb genus of over 300 species mostly from southern Africa. It is named after Ernst Rusch, a plant collector of the beginning of the 20th century. The species vary from thorny shrubs to very low ground covers. Many if not most species of Ruschia have their main growing season at the end of the summer. They bloom at the end of the growing season.
