Growth Habits: Deciduous tree, up to 60 feet tall (18 m), 30 feet wide (9 m); gray to green trunk with impressive conical spines; light green palmately compound leaves

Watering Needs: Occasional deep watering when established. Need a good drainage.

Propagation: Seeds


The trunk becomes bottle shaped as it ages, and it is covered with stout spines, more decorative than really frightening.

Blooming Habits:
Magnificent pink flowers in the fall, 3 inches in diameter (8 cm) or more.
