Origin: China
Leaf: Palmate, Irregularly divided, 3 to 4 feet across.
Trunk: Blackish brown, covered with old petiole bases and matted fiber, Trunk thicker at the top than at the bottom..
Flower: Yellow. Flower stalk coming from among the lower leaves.
Fruit: 0.5 to 0.75 inch long (1.2 to 2 cm). Kidney shaped.
Seed: Kidney shaped.

Can be grown indoor as potted plants. Sensitive to wind that tears the leaves. In the hot southwest deserts, it does better with afternoon shade.
