Leaf: Pinnate, Plumose, wide leaflets,
Trunk: Grayish green crownshaft, Gray,
Flower: Flower stalk coming from below the crownshaft.
Fruit: Pink when ripe. 1.5 inches long. egg shaped.
Seed: round at one end, pointed at the other.

The name comes from the colour of the wood of the trunk, which is used as construction material down under.
